  Mission Statement

adopted April 17, 1988

We, the members of this church, are on a faith journey with Jesus Christ, ever called to share God's gifts and love through worship, prayer, education, and service to all in our changing world.

Located in the heart of North Branford on the historic town green, NBCC maintains the green, its monuments to the town's fallen heroes, and the hallowed ground surrounding the church which was the town's original burying ground in colonial times. Our active ministry includes outreach into the community, cancer support, bible study, music ministry including concerts throughout the year, sponsorship of Boy Scouts, support for NA and AA, fairs, community suppers, and a vigorous youth program. Some of our mission projects include hosting the North Branford Community Food Bank, feeding and clothing New Haven's homeless, prison and nursing home outreach, and the Fair Haven Parents Ministry.

Covenant
adopted November 20, 1988

By the grace of God we have been called into this community of faith to be God's people.  Through our faith, belief, and trust in the love and wisdom of God, we covenant to walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself for us;  to love our God with all our heart, mind and soul; and to love our neighbors as ourselves.  As disciples of Jesus Christ, we give ourselves to this covenant of grace and accept all the costs and joys of discipleship.  Guided by the Holy Spirit, we covenant to live all our days according to the Word of God as it is revealed in Scripture, in the lives of others, and within ourselves.

Safe Church Policy

adopted January 27, 2008

The congregation of the North Branford Congregational Church recognizes that we are responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment in our church for our members and others who use our facilities.  God has entrusted to us the responsibility to promote the spiritual, emotional and physical well being of those who come to our church.  To fulfill that responsibility, we are committed to providing programs, facilities and a community in which members, friends, staff and volunteers can worship, learn and work together in an atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, exploitation or intimidation.  All persons associated with our church should be aware that the North Branford Congregational Church will not tolerate sexual exploitation or harassment, that church policy prohibits such behavior, and that the church will take action to prevent behavior contrary to its policy.

It is the intention of this congregation to have a clear policy to discourage and seek to prevent abuse within our Christian community, and to provide an avenue for an appropriate response should allegations of misconduct arise.

Any person who becomes aware of inappropriate behavior is responsible for reporting it to the Response Team.  The victim of the inappropriate behavior does not need to be the complainant.
